ok. i haven't been updating or anything...so here goes now that i've gotten all my programs and gorgeous 20" imac :D :D :D
TAKE A DEEP BREATH!!!

YES. I CAM WHORE. BUT VERY SELDOM.
i always wanted to do a stupid filmstrip of my horrendous journey on the plane and now that i'm all by myself and i won't be embarassed or whatsoever, I DID IT >.<
the plane ride really wasn't so bad. one reason being cos there was so few people on the plane that like everyone was changing seats and choosing what they preferred. i had a whole row of 3 seats all to myself so i could like lie down and sleep.
there wasn't much movies to watch so i was pretty bored. i only caught like indiana jones, spiderwick chronicles and maid of honor for the movies. i watched a few musicals which was pretty boring > cats (which hell i have no idea what it was all about.) and joseph and the technicolor coat. ACK. it was horrible. so yeah. i spent most of the time sleeping. AND I REALISED DURING THIS PLANE RIDE, THAT THE AIR IN THE PLANE IS REALLY DRY AND IT SUCKS ALL MOISTURE OUT OF YOU. like when i woke up from my sleep, my skin was so dry it was taut (WHO NEEDS BOTOX WHEN U HAVE PLANE RIDES???) and like even my palm lines were gone :S
oh crap. i think i blogged about this before...oh nevermind..just bear with me while i recap.
sooo...beautiful and gorgeous savannah airport...not big..but still beautiful :D this is inside the airport by the way.
my dorm room. the first picture shows how the room looked and was set up when we first arrived. check out my bed. i finally have a comforter that i can use :D ain't it gorgeous?? i did my own bed :D yes. i can do it. i am not THAT spoilt.
so yeap. this isn't really how our dorm looks like. it's messier cos of all our projects and supplies. but it's still neat. only the tables and dressers are messy. ahhaa. but our room is already the nicest and neatest compared to all our friends. it's the cleanest as well cos everyone else wears their shoes into their room. this is something i don't get. WHY DO THEY WEAR SHOES INTO THEIR HOUSES?!??! it's so gross.and since our floor is nice and clean, we can lie down to do our work and watch movies on our computer using jill (my roommate)'s laptop.
so you see. i haven't died without a maid and i realised i do have a mild form of OCD. i love sweeping the floor. it's really strange cos like even though we are living in an air con room, the room gets dusty really fast :S so does the toilet. and ya. i can't stand it. at home it never gets dusty except like corners...like the floor never gets dirty. actually it does..just that my maid cleans it before i wake up. so when i wake up, it's clean. haha. but that doesn't happen in the dorm. haha. and yes. i clean up after my own self. it's just a survival instinct. i'm not that spoilt after all. WHEEE :D
Savannah is gorgeous and i'm really really really enjoying myself. here. it was initally hot like singapore and slightly humid as well. so it kinda burst my bubble when i landed in savannah and stepped out waiting to embrace the nice fresh and cool air, but NOOOOO....it felt exactly like singapore! so orientation was horrible in the sense that we had to walk around savannah in the hot sun and stuff. but then....one day..when we got up the next morning, it got cool! like SUDDENLY! the temperature dropped to like 24 degrees and yesterday it was 18 degrees. i was cold :(
i would put up more shots of savannah now and then. not now cos blogger is stupid and it's not easy to shift pictures around. it's stupid that every picture you upload gets placed at the start of the entry and it takes forever to shift it down to where you want it to go :(
so picture of the day:
GAY COMMUNITY BUILDING. HELLO RAINBOW FLAG :D
yes. it is a gay community place. i know that cos like i was educated about rainbow flags by aunty selena at church office and also cos there was going to be a gay parade in town. even marc jacobs had a sale with mannequins wearing colourful rainbow tees with GAY PRIDE DAY spelt out.
this is an awesome place to study art. the architecture, the buildings etc. there's a crumbling building next to my dorm cos savannah has this thing that every building cannot be demolished. it has to fall down naturally :S so we have a very nice fenced up old crumbling building here to look at. it's awesome for photography and even to get inspirations for texture cos of all the rust and grungy-ness of it :) this place is awesome for 2d design.
speaking of which. last week's 2d project was just that! we had to use a viewfinder to crop images of objects and copy that onto 7" by 7" squares compositions after which we had to choose one with the best balance and follow the rule of third as well as those which have elements that lead the eye and hence have a form of continuity. and then ink that final composition and do an inverse of it. i spent 3 whole days on mine and i was uber proud of it. but after the class critique my heart was shattered and i felt super down :( me being me, like alot of details and stuff to fill the page. but you see..my class had a few girls. those cheerleader fashion kids that just can't clique with me kind. and they were like. oh i don't like it. it's too chaotic and messy and it's not balanced (which my professor said it was) and i was like :( i felt so bummed about that i didn't want to talk after that. sobb...
i hate critiques. one for what i had to receive about my artwork and hear people insult my pride and joy. and two for having to speak up in class which i absolutely hate :|
ah well. last weekend was truly insane and unlike everyone else around me who had time to go out and chill and party, i was stuck in my dorm room and in the classroom working my ass off cos my drawing professor gave us 16 drawings to complete. that is 4 life size drawings on a 18" by 24" drawing pad. i spent a total of 6-8 hours working on it. it's insane. thus...2d design project plus drawings plus an essay from 2d design and 5 chapters of reading worth bout 100++ pages long and art history readings to do....i almost died. but somehow...I SURVIVED!
and yes. despite how much homework i have or how tired i am from all of it, i am satisfied. i take pride in my work and it's been such joy :) i do not regret going to art school at all and i can honestly say, this is where i belong (not in america, but in art school)
i'm even enjoying art history loads. not the class cos i have a horrible professor, but rather, from doing my own reading of the text. it's been mighty interesting where i learn about the walls of jericho which came tumbling down after they marched 7 times around it and yelled. that's even more amazing cos i learnt that they were made of stone bricks and were 13 ft high and 5ft thick. that's like thicker than how tall i am can -__-. i could lie down on it and sleep if i even managed to get to the top. the strength of God!! and we also learn about the tower of babel and see how it looks like, and learn about the egyptian culture and gods and so much more :D wheeee
out of all my professors, i love ramsey the most. though he;s really tough and gives loads of homework, he's always so encouraging and he's really really nice to me. not like *ahem* wilkie tan who used to insult my drawings and all. ppfffttt.. seeing the works displayed in school motivates me to work hard and ONE DAY. yes ONE DAY..my work will be there, displayed as well. rather. i just want to reach that standard cos i want to keep my work. hahahhaa. yes yes. I WILL BE A GREAT ARTIST. TO HELL OF WHAT OTHER PEOPLE SAY. I WILL WORK HARD AND I WILL MAKE IT!!!
i never had such motivation before man! WHOOOTTT
social life wise, things have been very good. i havent felt homesick other than the first few days when i had no friends and i was pining for bobo and chrystal and my other friends. but mainly those 2 cos i spent so much of my time with them during the past mnth. but now i have friends and we hang out often and i have started to be myself once again, bouncing when i'm happy, doing rubbish and singing songs :) and we were brought together all because of bible study and church :)
yep. I have found spiritual support here and downpour (the bible study grp) is amazing. we had our first formal session yesterday and not only was dinner good, discussion was fantastic. the stuff the girls share and talk about was fantastic and i felt i was so encouraged and i learnt so much. my heart beats for downpour :) it makes me excited for God :D
so anyhows..i'm going to leave for Honey I Shrunk the Kids screening.
stay tuned for updates!!!
love you guys!!
