man. just came back from a crazy night at downpour. it was just a good time of fellowship and revealing my "true" crazy side to the people here while playing apples to apples (which i came in second cos i'm so lame and retarded) and then catch phrase, which i terribly suck at cos i can't work under stress and last but not least, the game that kept us all in the church was rockband. tried out the guitar, the drums and the singing. HAHAHAA. it was an AWESOME time of letting loose. hell yeah. haven't laughed till my sides ached and my tears came out in a looonnngg time.

thank God for church :)
ok. so here i am to update in the midst of the stupid frustrating finals cos my exam just finished and this is the start of the weekend so i might as well take a short breather and errr..breathe and blog.

any-o-the-hows. got loads to update on i reckon.

first things first
james and i were finally intro-ed to one another. ok...so it all started when i went for an extra help drawing session to work on the huge drawing and mind you..i called my prof to double check the timing 5 minutes before i left because i know other classes used the classroom till 7.30pm and she told me that no one was using it. GANASAI i tell u. i went all the way there and she apologised X___X BUT OF COURSE...in front of prof must act nice and polite and say it is absolutely fine (but it is kinda true cos i didn;t really want to work on my drawing anyways. HAR HAR HAR) so i took the bus back and GUESS WHO WAS ON IT ALONE??? james the kimchi boy. (now kiddies. this is how God blesses you when you are a good person and do your homework and go for extra help sessions.) har har. yes. so after alot of hesitation, i finally summed up enough courage and here's our interaction:

taking a deep breath "errr..hi. you're james right?
*kimchi nods head*
"saw your pictures on facebook. you have awesome pictures :)" (all that in one nervous breath while trying to remain as calm and collected as i possibly can.)
*he shyly and humbly shakes his head and laugh.*
i laugh and quickly added "i'm gloria by the way" and he says quietly "i know."
omg..HE KNOWS WHO I AM *BLUSH* lol. this is embarassing. I SURE HOPE I WASN'T OBVIOUS.

anyhows. he went on to talk about going for the alternative spring break and i asked him how he knew cos he missed the previous meeting and he told me he saw my name on the list in the email and that the other korean there told him about it.
hoho. his friends mention my existence. ho ho (blush)

so anyhow, the bus reached arnold and he had to get off and he said bye before he left :) that left me smiling the whole night.

thought of the day: he knew who i was and that i existed!!!

the next day, i had my dinner at JOs and i had to leave early to go attend a talk on archeology in Egypt for art history and guess who i bumped into right outside??? KIMCHI!

this part was funny.

"hi :)" (both saying at the same time)
(both of us realises that and he quickly looks down while i look away and smile to myself)
*awkward pause*
"where are you going?" (both saying the exact same words at the same time...AGAIN)
*another embarassed pause*
i finally say "i'm going to the trustees theatre for an art history lecture. you?"
"cool. me too."
"cool."

and off we headed off together. he half pedaling on his bike as slowly as he can cos i;m walking. so during the walk to the trustees we talked and shared about where we were from and our majors, our abilities to speak both english and mandarin :S, his photography interest and church. he attends a korean church in savannah right now where he helps lead worship in  that small youth group of theirs. He still wants to serve in other areas so i invited him down for 180. then we sat down and attended the lecture.

end of love story, on to interesting facets of my art school life.

so the art hist egyptian lecture was really really good. so much so i was able to pay attention despite having kimchi boy next to me. zahi hawas is a reknowned egyptian archeologist who has gone on national geographic, discovery channel and has given personal tours to hollywood stars and even bill gates. it was interesting listening to him. he was a man passionate about his work and he was very humourous about it too. i'm glad i attended this lecture cos i heard about how boring the other lectures were. HAR HAR HAR. we traced the lineage of some of the mummies and expelled myths of murder and conspiracies and we realised that no one was murdered. they died from illnesses. learnt more about the very interesting egyptian culture and what nots. perhaps...i should take archeology instead of psychology for one of my modules that i need to take. HMMMSSSSS... :D PLUS. he has decided to tie up with SCAD and arrange a trip to Egypt where he will gives us a tour to one of the excavation site. COOLNESS. i would so do that to fulfil one of my art history electives!

so my huge ass pastel drawing is finally done. i forgot to bring my camera to class so i didn't manage to take a picture to show u guys for now. but be patient and wait. i'm real proud of this one. i spent a good deal of 20hrs on the coloring so that makes a total of about 30hrs for this whole shit. but yeah. my prof was really happy about it. she dubbed me the best coconut drawer -__-''' and but hell yeah. through this i've managed to train my eye to see color in objects. shadows are no longer black or grey, but have a combination of blues, greens and violets depending on the light around. slowly but surely you start to think you're going crazy when you see colors no one else sees.

thirdly.
remember the house that my friends and i wanted to get but couldn't because we were tied to the stupid contract? well guess wad. the owner contacted us because out of all the possible tenants we are the ones he could trust with his interior designed house that he reworked from scratch. HO HO. so he has decided to compromise and raise the rent by $50 a person per month for a year and then have the rent go back to the original amount cos over the next few months it's a loss of around 4K. not just that. he has decided to leave some furniture behind for us :) yay. money savers!! WHOOT WHOOT. thank God. He provides.

as for the roommates issue, i have decided that i'll choose the room away from everyone else. it doesnt matter if i can't possibly live 24/7 with some people, but at least i can hide in my room and it will be clear that i want to be left alone...like now. nonetheless, i am delighted because now i do not need to spend a single cent on furniture because my future roommates have spare furniture that they can provide for me. and it's near the china market too. which means I CAN HAVE ASIAN FOOD ALL THE TIME THAT I WANT :D :D :D :D :D

my first visit there left me brimming in tears of joy. even seeing the cans of yeos soy milk and vitasoy made me sooo happy. i miss home.

fourthly
there was a drug raid today. they lied saying that we were going to have our air conditioners in the room serviced but nooo....when i went for class i saw 4 sheriff cars outside the dorms and their dogs came sniffing in the rooms. exciting. only problem was my roommate had the neighbouring boy in my room in her bed with her in just their undies and my other roommate might have drugs. i have no idea where the two or 3 of them are right now, but they are definitely not in the room with me right now.

fifth
i'm delighted in the amount of drama that is happening in my room. simply because i am not a part of it and it is always fun and delightful to have abit of channel 8/desperate housewives drama to watch when you don't have a tele to watch. oh love...forbidden love. now i have an extra roommate, a male. thankfully, he's a nice guy :) i think it's really cute watching the two of them in their first stage of honeymoon love life.

and lastly,
i came back from my room last night all grumpy from dinner with michelle and maggie cos michelle was having an emotional outburst on me and i refuse to tell her how i feel about it. it's hard when you keep it inside and after a while she comes in asking you what is wrong and tells u how worried she is about u etc etc. it almost killed me to know that. i'm heartless. that's my line for throwing everything she throws at me back at her.

but but but. i was delighted in a lil gift i found on my pillow.

apparently someone decided to sent me a wuv gram. which is really a love gram...like a monogram..love message whatever for valentines day. albeit really late, but it's not that person's fault. the student services is just too slow.

the red paper says
"to: Gloria Wu
(turner hse Room ___)
happy Valentines day
Love: your secret admirer"

OOOHHHHH. i have a secret admirer.
excitingness.
i just hope the person's a HE and not a SHE and that he is not a creeper or a weirdo.

i have no clue who this person is and i have no idea how to find out UNLESS THAT PERSON TELLS ME. then i will decide whether to honestly and bluntly reject or say wait and see.

haha.

wheee...had a nice and relaxing day today having loads of me time at the library, feeling like a professional art student looking through art books and medical anatomy for the artist. had to do a bit of scanning and printing and what not. it was just simply a feel-good me time. no noise, no disruption. just me in my own world and freedom of imagination. no michelle yakking away while i try hard to pretend i'm listening even though sometimes i don't care about what she's talking about.

after my time in the library i went around savannah to get pictures for sketchbook work. i know i'm not supposed to draw from pictures, but i'm not intending to drag around my many markers and water color and what nots from park square to park square with the wind blowing all my papers around.

i managed to borrow the book on the drawings/sketches
of stephen silver who is an artist and character designer for
nickelodeon. Saw his development of danny phantom and such and i've decided that my goal now is to master proportions and then move on to stylising and concept such that i can draw base on my imagination. however, before this can happen, i need to work on mastercopying previous artworks to try out different mediums and techniques and getting a feel of the art and style. this is exciting. sadly, wonderful art supplies like good copic markers or prismacolor markers cost a bomb, with a set of 12 costing a minimum of 45 USD and the copic ones at 70 USD. WHYYYYYYYY :( even a simple lead holder, which is like a mechanical pencil, only that the lead for it is pretty much the thickness of a pencil, costs 7 USD. this is INSANE!!! grrrr

anyhows, the weather today was gorgeous to walk around in and i pretty much discovered a part of savannah i never noticed or saw before. i am excited for my photography module which i'll take during summer because i have discovered new and int
eresting things, and there will definitely be greater and more exciting discoveries. WHOOPIE :)

interesting fish pipe
haha. i was like WHAT?!?!

SUN DIAL! coolness :)

photos of my valentine:

as you can  tell, this thing is pretty HUGE. it's 36" by 48" in vine charcoal stick. gonna have to go over this with pastel and i'm really too lazy to do so cos i spent bout 8-9 hrs on this one. funny how this is like so many times larger than the usual size drawing but i still took the same amount of time to complete it :S the easel is pretty much as low as it can go and in order to reach the top of the paper my hand is fully extended. it is pretty much a pain in the ass sometimes but i enjoy standing and balancing on the legs of the easel.

it hasn;t been a very good time for me.

i'm currently having a roommate trouble even though it's pretty much one sided where i feel totally annoyed and she has no idea. my new roommate's been an a-hole. she was so superbly messy i had to do an obstacle course in order to get from one side of the room to my desk, which is on the other side of the room. her clothes, clean or dirty is piled high onto several mount Everests and it takes a journey of leap and bounds to reach my desk. our floor was by the way, really gross, so both nicole and i were totally disgusted that she wears the clothes on the floor. even undies. i'm surprised she doesn't get infections down under. not just that, she is unhygienic. she spilled coffee on her desk and didn't clean up. now that it's dried up into a layer of coffee glaze, she has taken great joy in scribbling little designs into it. a while back she even used stray hair found in the bathroom to write the word love on the walls. X_X  then she cuts her hair on the counter and doesn't clear up, leaving hair scattered all over it as well as her foundation powder. more often than not, nicole cleans it up for her. she simply refuses to do so.

thankfully, i took the step to clean my area up since i had my sheets washed and that peer pressured nicole into cleaning her area and finally ally cleaned it up. for the first time, she finally appreciates the magic and joy of a clean room. gosh. suddenly my room appears bigger. in the morning she exclaims with such joy that she no longer have to jump over her mountain of clothes to get out of bed. i wonder who created the problem for her in the first place. HMMM..

and then. after i came back from classes, i discovered that the furry rug in the bathroom was soaking wet and i asked nicole about it and she had no idea it was even wet. so when ally got back, we asked her about it and she said she too had no idea since she hasn't taken a bath. HOWEVER, nicole said that ally took a shower when she and britney were in the room that afternoon so she was the last person in the shower which made her the culprit for the grossly wet rug. not only did she not clean up the mess, she even LIED that she didn;t do it. I MEAN...come on. it's not a serious issue and we would be fine if you did it. but i mean...to deny it and even come up with the story that perhaps some guy came in and peed all over the rug is ridiculous. never mind that.

at 4am in the morning, music (rap and rock and what not) started playing from her laptop. i woke her up and asked her nicely to turn it off, only to have her totally ignore me and going back to bed. I WAS SO PISSED OK. seriously. it left me seething mad in bed and struggling to fall back to sleep. GRRRR. seriously thinking of getting a room all by myself.

woke up feeling utterly grumpy and sleepy and what annoyed me was how cheery she was. i felt that shooting her in the face there and then. went to class all sleepy and it was so hard to work cos i was grumpy and sleepy and couldn't focus. grrrr...

after class ended i headed down to wallin for color theory only to find that class has been rudely cancelled at the last minute. i was irritated because it's going to make my weekend horribly busy now that i'm going to have to waste away my wednesday and thursday afternoon. GRRRR. this sucks.

and nicole is going to move out next quarter so it means i'm going to have another roommate next quarter and all i can do is to simply cross my fingers and pray that i'd get a good one.

oh gosh...

yay. housing is settled. i feel like a huge burden is off my chest right now.

so ok. peer pressure is a terrible thing and i didn't want to be a horrible roommate and suddenly back out on the housing thing when everyone was so keen about getting it. soo....as i laid in bed fretting about it and asking God to help, He did.

michelle and i went to talk to the residence and housing department and we found out that there is no way to move out of the dorms next quarter unless you want to pay both the dorms and the rental costs of the house. so yeah. it's a more than valid reason to tell everyone else that we can't move next quarter. phew

it's funny how my roommate is playing some song about not worrying about a thing cos everything will be alright. indeed it has.

thanks for the prayers!

i miss having many friends to rely on. i realised last night with great frustration that i have no other outlet except my blog where all my good friends can hear me out. being with michelle the past few days has been rather frustrating. being the blunt selfish me and the super sensitive her is not exactly the best combination that friends can find. we pretty much sound like a long time dating couple quarrelling about why she's so emotional why she complains about me being so heartless and emotionless that it's just so hard to figure out what i'm thinking or feeling.

half the time when she's angry or sad i just feel like an asshole because i;m such a lousy friend. i don't want to tell her that i'm starting to have doubts about moving in with her because of her reactions. i know she's going to be very upset about it. I know because i know the way she is and i've pretty much joked with her about it and she thought i was serious and her reaction was pretty much how i expected it to be.

i just need my own space to work and not be disturbed.

blah.
