THE UNVEILING OF MY NEW APARTMENT!!
tv corner. note the cg's photoframe and gingeyman!
study and work corner. had an issue with the dim lighting but intelligent and creative me has managed to solve it. YAY! i like how my work supplies are all within reach now as compared to days in the dorm.
sleep. live. dressing corner. lookie girls! it's the handbag of glory on my wall!
so i finally got everything rearranged and organised in my room. am honestly quite delighted with how it turned out :) more decorations needed though. it's nice how my room is nearest to the door. it really feels like my own personal pad, cos i come into the apartment and go into my room. with large enough closets, my own personal toilet, a set of dishes, food, cleaning supplies and a tele, the only reason why i need to get out of my room is to use the kitchen to cook. meh heh heh. it's awesome. my roommates have been very sweet to make sure during the past few days before they leave that the house is all ready for me to live in for the summer. cooking utensils etc have all been bought so that i can live in here like a real human being and not one enslaved to the scary dorm food. ok. dorm food isn't that bad. it's just that for the price that you pay...it's really not worth it.
nonetheless, i am currently resolved to eating instant mee and eating out because i have yet to go grocery shopping. i never knew living alone was this much work :S it makes it harder when u're alone cos it's really quite xian to go out and eat alone. my first meal out alone was dinner at sakura's. terriyaki shrimp rice bowl. the cheapest meal there for dinner. LOL. thankfully in america, portions are huge and thus i dapao-ed the remaining home, which became my lunch for today. living out of the dorms also meant a wide variety of bills to pay and mail and settle. yeeks. electricity, water, cable and rent. very very very important. these were things i always took forgranted but now cheapo me makes sure my lights are off when i'm not using it so i don't explode my electricity bill. then there's budgeting to make sure my grocery doesn't go overboard. i tend to get over excited when i go grocery shopping. and as my pacey would know from experiences in the office, i hoard. LOL. i still have food that i brought over during my first quarter here at scad. LOL. yay for honeystars and their ability to last for a long period of time. hahahhahaa.
work yesterday was quite a negative experience. i would think that scad, with its networking skills and big events would be able to organise and plan better. we spent most of our working shifts doing nothing, while some jobs assigned couldn't be done because they weren't ready yet! on the bright side, I'm delighted to be in a school with awesome networks. this year's speaker at graduation is Glenn Close, the actress who acted as cruella de ville in 101 dalmations. that's so cool man. there were some rumors going around a while back that it was gonna be Jackie Chan, honorary professor for performing arts here at SCAD but i guess his engrish just wasn't good enough for scad yet. he can go ahead and speak at the hong kong campus i guess :)
oh wells. and today i learnt that grocery shopping is gonna be a huge pain in the butt because i do not have a car. true, i can take the bus to walmart, but i have to walk to get to the asian market to get chinese food. took my first grocery shopping trip today to while away time cos i was bored and i had to anyway. lugged rice, noodles, sauces, ikan billis etc etc etc for a whole 30-45 min home in the hot summer sun. i am tired. and now more lugging as i head off down to work at tearing down the graduation ceremony. at least at the end of it all i'll be $175 richer.
